Every year in the month of July, the National Disaster Coordinating Council leads the whole nation in the conduct of pre-disaster evacuation / safety drills and exercises.
Manuel A. Roxas Elementary School of Sta. Ana District was one of the participating schools who performed the earthquake drill on July 3, 2008 at 9:00 in the morning. It was participated in by 1,139 pupils including the kindergarten, 29 teachers and several parents who were in the vicinity during that time. Around 15 police officers led by Police Superintendent Cabañog of Sta. Ana Police Force manned the drill.
They were assigned in the different corners of the school. Several officers of the Regional Disaster Coordinating Council were made to evaluate the drill. After the performance, pupils were made to go back to their classrooms while the teachers, policemen and the members of the Regional and City Disaster Coordinating Council Officers stayed in the gym to hear the evaluation of the earthquake drill. Of the ten-execution drill, the school got nine excellent points, with only very good. Over-all performance rating of the execution of the drill was excellent.
The school was well prepared with the school map showing the evacuation route and the organizational chart showing the different officers of the school called the Calamity Disaster and Fire Control Group. Photos at depedmares
