The National Schools Maintenance Week dubbed as “Brigada Eskwela”  is observed every year by every public school be it elementary or secondary.  It encourages parents, barangay residents and youth in the community to volunteer resources and work for the maintenance and minor repair of schools.

June 2, 2008 was the launching of  Brigada Eskwela for 2008 at Manuel A. Roxas Elementary School. Parents troop to the school early morning to attend the said program.  After the program people started giving their services.

Everyday parents of pupils came.  Some brought with them their donation like brooms, pail, paints, galvanized iron sheets and even food.  The spirit of “bayanihan” prevailed through out the week.  By Wednesday the rooms were already cleaned and polished but the following day Thursday  a very heavy rain poured out and flooded the rooms of the whole school including the Principal’s office. Water and mud entered the rooms.  The following day Friday, June 6 parents came back and again cleaned and polished the rooms.  Again the parents offered their services harmoniously.  June 7, was the closing exercises of the Brigada Eskwela.  Parents who did extra services were given certificate of recognition from the principal.
