Davao businessmen optimistic despite economic slowdown

    Davao City (8 January) -- The Davao City business sector is optimistic that Davao City can weather the effects of the global economic slowdown in their forecast this year.
    Speaking at Club 888 media forum at the Marco Polo Davao last Wedneday (Jan. 7) Simeon Marfori President of the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (DCCCII) said that Davao is better than other cities in weathering the economic storm. (+)

Davao screening for free surgical operation set on Saturday

    Davao City (8 January) -- A whole day screening for the Medical Mission '09 "Free Surgical Operation" project is scheduled this Saturday (January l0th) at the Healing Garden of the Davao Medical Center (DMC) starting 7:30am to 5:00pm, according to the Kiwanis Club of Davao City, lady president Eleonor H. Madiclum.
    This is a joint project of the DMC led by Dr. Bong Vega; Van & Oscar Ong and Medical Team from Detroit, Michigan, and Kiwanis Club of Cosmopolitan Detroit & Kiwanis Clubs of Divisions 7 & 8, Philippine South District and World Medical Relief, Inc. (WMRI). (+)

SYNOPSIS: Wind convergence accross Southern Luzon.
FORECAST: Southern Luzon and Visayas will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and isolated thunderstorms becoming widespread rains over Bicol region which may trigger flashfloods and landslides. The rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers. Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast will prevail over Luzon and Eastern Visayas and the coastal waters will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate blowing from the southeast to northwest with slight to moderate seas.
