Thirty-seven
(37) participants consisting of ATEP managers and university registrars from
eighteen (18) partner universities all over the Philippines congregated in
Davao City on December 1- 4, 2008 for the ATEP Workshop on Transcript of
Records (ToR) Preparation.
The
workshop aimed to reach a consensus on the format of the ATEP graduates
Transcript of Records (ToR), taking into consideration the inputs and
guidelines from the representatives of the Professional Regulation Commission
(PRC) and the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). This activity became
necessary as the lack of information was the likely cause when they applied for
the LET in 2007. There are about 200 asatidz in the BEAM regions who will
graduate in 2009 and it is hoped that their LET application will become hassle-free.
In 2010, there are 647 asatidz expected to take the LET.
The Arabic Language and Islamic Values Education (ALIVE) Program
is now on its 4th year of implementation in Region XII. Every year,
DepEd Central Office circulates new orders and memoranda for the different
initiatives and programs it implements. The issuance of these memos results in
possible changes in the previously established systems, processes and
procedures to respond better to the need of the Department. To synchronize the ALIVE
Manual of Operations with these new policies, DepEd XII held a workshop to
update on 13-14 November 2008, at the Family Country Hotel, General Santos
City.
Participants to this activity were regional and division
ALIVE coordinators and selected ALIVE school heads and asatidz with permanent
teaching items.
Despite
of the volatile peace and order situation, twenty (20) of the thirty (30) BEAM pilot
madaris across Regions XI, XII and ARMM celebrated the Science Month last month
consistent with the DepEd Memo 369, s. 2008. This year’s Science Month
celebration is based on the theme, “Science and Technology; Focus on Food
Security for Community Development”.
To
bring this theme to the level of the school children, the pilot madaris came up
with activities that will enhance pupils’ exposure to and appreciation on the
role of science and technology as they support food security in the community.
