Information and Communications Technology (ICT) is seen as the fuel that boosts our country’s economy. The National Computer Center (NCC) is the wheel that steers ICT in the right direction. As a lead agency for promoting ICT in the government, the NCC continues its pursuit of harnessing ICT for national development.

With the telecentre.org-Philippine CeC Academy's adoption of the national competency standards for CeC knowledge workers last December 11, 2008, a curriculum development workshop was held at the Commission on Information and Communications Techonology (CICT) building in Diliman, Quezon City the very next day to come up with a curriculum for the tPCA’s first official public course offering.

Last December 11, institutional partners of the telecenter.org-Philippine CeC Academy (tPCA) met one last time before closing a very fruitful and successful year. Said meeting held at the Commission of Information and Communications Technology (CICT) head office in UP Diliman, Quezon City was followed by a victory cum yuletide celebration at the same venue.

Eight Community eCenter managers from different parts of Luzon and Mindanao visited different types of CeCs in the Visayas area during the local exchange program held from December 9-11, 2008.

In an effort to come up with a well formulated and refined set of national competency standards for Community eCenter knowledge workers (NCS-CeC), a follow up workshop was held last October 22 and 23 at the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) facilities in Taguig City to review and enhance the NCS-CeC draft developed so far.

On November 17 and 18, telecentre.org officials headed by Program Manager Florencio Ceballos visited three different Community eCenters in the Luzon area.
